Hey people, here's the problem. I hope you can help me...
I used to have my partitions something like this..

Windows installation used about 200GB
Data partition (where I kept my files, downloads and music) was about 250GB
And about 30GB for Elementary OS Luna installation
The rest were just boot partitions and free space

One day Luna would't boot, so I decided to upgrade to Elementary OS freya. I downloaded it and prepared a live USB.
During the installation I chose "Install over the previous Elementary installation" (my first mistake) and "Encrypt installation" (second one)
So I was enjoying freya, and after a few hours I noticed that the whole hard drive was used by freya and my Windows installation and Data partitions were nowhere to be found...
And I don't know if I can recover files in the conventional way to recover after formatting due the encryption.
I wouldn't mind to lose the new installation, I just want my files back.

You could try this: https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/precise/testdisk/
