Nvidia update and resolution is wrong

I have a Lenovo all in one and yesterday, I updated the SW on my computer. After a restart my resolution is wrong and I can't get it back. How can I force the resoloution to 2560x1440. I cannot see all of my screen so I guess this is the problem.

I am using Ubuntu 14.10

I have a GeForce GT 630M and I am using the driver 340.65. This is correct according to the website.

What other reasons could cause my screen not to show the entire desktop?

I have been installing nvidia on my machine for the last week, because I am new to ubuntu and for the most part started off fixing problems by reinstalling ubuntu. The repetition certainly helped me learn.

You installed with a driver from the website.
This means you should to run the install twice. First attempt fails but changes something when you select yes to a question it asks, I don't remember what the question was, then you must reboot. After this reboot the resolution changes and you need to run the install again. Have you done this?

I fixed it by switching to the open soure driver and removing all Nvidia drivers and then reinstalling them by SW update. Unity crashed and then I reset that and after all of this it works again.
