Setting the brightness

If this is in the wrong place or a duplicate, I appologize. nubie here. I have just installed LTS and as a new Ubuntu user am struggling. However, I noticed when setting the brightness to maximum it was actually dimmer than "just before" the max setting. Not a big deal and I am sure is way down the list of things to do, but thought it should be mentioned.

I was just wondering if running an update (sudo apt-get update) from the terminal (ctrl, alt & T) might help as on previous fresh installs i have sometimes found little glitches like that and they go away after running the first update. It might be worth trying if you havent done so already. If that doesnt work then i am sure someone will reply with a more technical fix to the problem.

Once you find your feet with Ubuntu then i am sure you will love it. One thing i found when i switched from windows many years ago was that i was slightly overwhelmed by how much more control you have.
