View Full Version : [ubuntu] [14.10] 3.16.0-26 is failing to boot on here; probably graphics related

After installing the 3.16.0-26 update, the system will hard lock at some point during the boot cycle. The only way to get it to boot with this version is to use "nomodeset", which then does not set the display mode properly.

I strongly suspect it's graphics card related, as I've always had issues with the AMD HD 6670 I'm using - it would, for example, always hard lock within five minutes of booting if using the proprietary AMD drivers.

Has anyone else been having similar issues with this kernel update?

Bump, just to say that the new -28 update is also having the same issues. -25 and earlier still work though.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1397553/ - just a bump to note that this is the issue.
