View Full Version : Can only boot to recovery mode in 14.04 fresh install

I just installed 14.04 onto an ASUS D553m laptop and I can only boot into recovery mode and even booting into recovery mode seems to freeze half the time. If I boot into normal ubuntu, it freezes either at a black screen or if using an older kernel at the ubuntu flash screen. I'm trying to see if there is anything I can do to fix this problem from recovery mode. I suspect this isn't a video card problem. Using lspci shows a recognized video card (00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation ValleyView Gen7 (rev 0e)) and booting to the black screen doesn't give me any kind of login-screen sound with the black screen.

Where can I start to fix this problem? Thanks.
