Hello everybody,

Now, I've been using Ubuntu for quite some time and even in my first steps I was interested in developing my own distribution based on Ubuntu. Now after several years on just practicing with it and getting around with the envoronment and with terminal commands I want to try and setting up my own Unity baset theme. Now I know that I can find all themes under /usr/share/themes/ but I wanted to consult you (more experienced) guys on where to start. I noticed that themes are CSS and XML based, so to be precise what I would like is to build minimalistic theme with and to customize unity a bit. Also, I'm interested in how you guys would create i.e. transparent/blury effect of the borders (just like the Unity Launcher). Sorry for long post but needed to be a bit more precise and I hope I made myself clear since this is my first post here. Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Nikola

I find it easier to copy a existing theme and then rename and modify it to my liking. I do not run Unity, so can't give any details. Maybe this will help.

Thank you kindly on your response. :) I'm looking at it at the moment and this helps, actually. Just to figure out how programs like unity-tweak-tool actually changes the top bar to transparent. (I know it's similar to CSS but cannot seem to find the proper way to make it transparent). Thank you as I said, this helps. :)
