I am running into a kernel/ALSA/firmware issue that I don't think I will be able to find help with here. The resources of the Ubuntu forums are great but they have their limitations. Is there a forum or chat somewhere that is known to be populated by knowledgeable people in the area of the kernel and hardware drivers?
I considered filing a bug but that looks like a months long process.
What sort of options do I have in terms of professional support? I assume that Ubuntu's professional support only covers supported hardware configurations. Could I find a developer to work for $40-50 an hour for only a few hours or is that lowballing? Honestly, I would prefer someone to lead me to the conclusion than doing it for me but I am nearly out of options myself. Also, I would really prefer to at least narrow the problem down more myself to avoid being misled.
I would make a forum post on the problem specifically, but I will never get a response and I don't know how to even format the post because I don't know if I am running into the wrong firmware, wrong ALSA version, wrong kernel version, or something else. I would make a forum post on deciding what the problem is but I know I won't get a response to that either. So you can see why I am trying to find help somewhere else.
