After I make a new install, I want to know the terminal line to install Google Chrome or what URL to find it. I'll try Chromium first, but if it doesn't work out, like previously for me, I want to install Chrome as a secondary web browser.

You can install Chromium from the Software Centre, then install pepperflashplugin-nonfree to get the latest flash. That should be it. If there are problems, let us know what they are.

As for installing Chrome from a terminal, you might try THIS (http://www.howopensource.com/2011/10/install-google-chrome-in-ubuntu-11-10-11-04-10-10-10-04/). Good luck.

Once the *.deb is downloaded, double-click it.

+1 to install through the PPA. Everything is done automatically and you'll get updates through the update manager.

I have Chromium installed, so I'm going to try it for a while.

One thing about the .deb download from the Google webpage. It installs by taking the person to the software center. After downloaded, it gives a message (in the software center) to type in a short code in terminal to run it. I don't remember what the code was, but the last time I tried it, the code didn't do anything. Perhaps the word "sudo" or something has to be put before the code.

I've already marked this thread as solved.

For anyone installing Google Chrome from their website using the deb file, after the ubuntu software center installs it...no terminal command need be run as you should then find it right on the dash search and once you open it you can lock to unity launcher...
