Way to hide the close:minimize:maximize buttons in titlebars?

When using Unity with 14.04, is there a way to hide the display of the close:minimize:maximize buttons that appear in the upper left corner of window title-bars?

I alway use keyboard shortcuts to accomplish these tasks, so the buttons aren't needed and I'd like to claim that space for display window titles.

The documentation for your window manager should tell you whether you can do what you want. I use the Openbox window manager and that allows me to display any or all of the following in the order I desire:

N: window icon
L: window label (AKA title).
I: iconify
M: maximize
C: close
S: shade (roll up/down)
