Nice. That layout makes me a bit nostalgic for my Ubuntu 2.x days, even though I realize that is XFCE. Nostalgia is great and all, but I'm not going back.

I've had the same desktop picture for about 4 years now I think. I know I got it from Nasa originally, or at least I'm pretty sure.

Everything else is a default option. Lubuntu 14.04.

Yes, I put icons on my desktop, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat .

A few slight modifications to my Kubuntu.

Themes, etc, are the same as months past.

For the wallpaper (stock NASA photo of the center of the Milky Way), I added a planet from http://arisechicken117.deviantart.com/art/Alien-planet-stock-172185929 and expanded one of the stars into a nearby sun.

So, I tried OpenSUSE for awhile on the new-to-me laptop, and decided it wasn't for me. The new-to-me laptop is now sporting a fresh Trusty install.

Zukimac theme, Mbuntu-osx icons, and the official Mavericks "Wave" wallpaper (which you can get here (http://lifehacker.com/put-the-wallpapers-of-os-x-mavericks-on-your-desktop-1451212802)), but otherwise Stockity McStock:

HAD to show this one, 'cos I'm so chuffed with the way it's turned out, after almost being consigned to the scrapheap...

My 2002 Dell Inspiron 1100 laptop, running Puppy Linux 'TahrPup' 6.0:

Wallpaper sourced through Google, searched under 'Lord of the Rings'.
Icon .png images also sourced through Google (several separate searches!)
'Mini-conky' courtesy of Puppy's pWidgets.
'Puppy' logo my own work, courtesy of Google and PhotoScape 3.7, running under Wine 1.7.23.

Mike.

@ Mike,

What can one say... It's excellent!

Thanks, Sammiev.....that's made it ALL worthwhile! Since junking XP back in May, and searching high and low for a distro that would work with such an ancient piece of hardware, I finally struck lucky with 'TahrPup'.....

The 1100 might be ancient in tech terms, but she's solidly built.....and still works VERY well.

Results AREN'T too bad, are they?

Regards,

Mike. :)

Yeah, they could be better... I saw a set of round flat icons that looked good but have not figured out how to install them in Fedora just yet.
