This is just to confirm that the 14.04 works as well as the 8.04 on the eeePC 900.

That's 900Mhz ancient atom, 1G ram 4 + 16G sd.

I've been hesitant to upgrade for year but following the encouragement from Irihapeti over the last couple of weeks I have been customising it and all is good.

Thanks again Irihapeti

I loved my little eeepc 900 but I gave it to a friend whose house runs off 12 volt solar panels. He can just plug it directly into his 12V supply, no external power supply needed. So he is very happy as it only uses one amp and is running Lubuntu 14.04 nicely.
I now have a Toshiba NB100 running Xubuntu 14.04. It works nicely but stupidly has dark grey lettering on a black keyboard. It's a nuisance to use in anything other than bright light.
Stay with your eeepc 900 it's a fantastic little beauty!

Thanks for the feedback, amoun. I'm pleased to hear it's working so well.

I dread the day that my eeePC finally gives up the ghost. I'd be lost without it. :(

Fortunately, it's behaving itself very well for now.
