BIOS Not detecting Ubuntu USB

Hello.

I decided to get a 32-bit Ubuntu instead of 64-bit to get Wine. I installed it on a 4 GB USB. However, it is not showing up in my Boot options.

This is what greets me when I try to find my USB. Please note that PNY 2.0 FD is not the USB that has Ubuntu on it.

I have tried formatting my USB and installed Ubuntu again, but to no luck. My other computer can detect it just fine.

Sometimes the BIOS and USB chips just don't like each other enough to allow booting. I haven't found a clear way to know when or if this will or will not work. Some new USB devices fail, some old ones fail to boot too.

Try a different flash drive.

I agree with TheFu that it could be poor cooperation between the BIOS or motherboard hardware and your flash drive.

It is often easier to help, when we know more about your computer, so please specify your computer

- Brand name and model
- CPU
- RAM (size)
- graphics chip/card
- wifi chip/card

How did you create a bootable USB? Is your laptop using UEFI boot?
