Ubuntu10.14+Mate1.8.1. App manager does not install application - not enough privileges. What to do?

Do you mean Ubuntu 10.04? If you do it is no longer supported. Please read THIS (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2229730).

Post a new thread if you have any troubles installing a supported release.

No idea what that means, but I will presume you are using 14.04 for now. Which 'app manager' are you using?
