This is going to be difficult to describe and I've seen some posts that appear to be similar so bear with me.
I upgraded from 12.04 to 14.04 to fix a problem which still persists. As I am working throughout the day occiasionally mouse clicks will seem to go nowhere. I can move the mouse around, and areas of the desktop, or applications that respond to mouse-over events respond correctly, but mouse clicks do not. I cannot change focus between applications, I cannot click buttons. Most of the time, I can get to a terminal (ctrl-alt-T) and run
nohup unity --replace & which fixes the problem about 60% (that's a WAG) of the time.
I've tried my standard mouse on other computers... it works very well. I've tried a different mouse on this computer... same issue.
Since I am unclear what I can collect to report a bug, I thought I'd try here first.
Any suggestions?
