I'm new to ubuntu. I installed Ubuntu 14.10 on my external toshiba 500Gb hard drive using a live USB and everything went fine except when I was asked to restart and restarted, however I got the message: "BOOTMGR is missing, press CTRl+ALT+DEL to restart". Please help. I'm new to linux and need ubuntu for my course.

Best to see details.
Download this and run the summary report, post link it gives you.

Boot Repair -Also handles LVM, GPT, separate /boot and UEFI dual boot.:

You do have to change utopic to saucy as that is still the version of Boot-Repair available. It will still work ok.
