I am running a Gigabyte GB-BXi7-4770R, Ubuntu 14.04 gave me a Kernel Panic when I tried to install. I was able to get one of the daily builds of 14.10 to install. I was really looking forward to the final release. Downloaded the ISO and loaded to a USB flash drive. When I used the "try Ubuntu" option it Paniced. I then tried to go directly to the install option , same thing. Any ideas????

Same situation, downloaded Kubuntu 14.10 amd64 iso, kernel panic on Dell Studio 17 laptop, in both install and recovery modes. Laptop had been running Kubuntu 14.04 just great until the _upgrade_ to 14.10 had errors, ending with kmod and left the hdd in an unbootable state, hence trying to recover with the dvd. So 14.10 is looking really really bad, I mean absolutely terrible.

I get random kernel panics on 14.10 too. Its take me since last week to get it to boot without just hanging. I just wish there was some easy way to downgrade to 14.04 as 14.10 just seems to be a pile of iunk.

Maybe its just a 64 Bit thing
