So i have a whole lot of music files in the format of .m4a. I want to be able to play them in spotify because they are a part of my playlists its very easy. I don't want to use vlc to play them or any other file player because i want to be able to search for other artists that aren't local files.

Hi, elcome.

Spotify doesn't play video; *.m4v files typically are video files although some may contain audio only and Spotify should be able to play latter, not the former.
What happens when you try to play them?

Sorry i meant to say m4a files instead of m4v. Sorry.

When ever i try and drag them in to spotify to import, it doesn't recognise them. When i do it on my mac it makes the shortcut symbol until i drop them but on Ubuntu it won't do anything.

I can give anymore information now seeing as my main computer isn't available, but I'll get a better description when I can, which should be maybe 3-4 days.

Again sorry.
