As I'm trying to lessen the work needed for a frash install, am looking at all the bookmarks i have t add each time in Dolphin.

The bookmark file is in $HOME/.kde/share/apps/kfileplaces/bookmarks.xml

There doesn't seem to be a function in Dolphin to import the bookmarks. So can I simply add/modify filesets to the XML file ?

What type of bookmarks are those? Web bookmarks or bookmarks to folders in the system?

Adding two more links:

Okay thanks, I did have a look at that. But I needed something just for the desktop; I don't use a cloud.

Bookmarks to folders in the system. Thanks for those links, I have checked them out. In the end I compared the back up of the XML file to the current one ($HOME/.kde/share/apps/kfileplaces/bookmarks.xml ), and moved any "places" over. Some posts say you can simply overwrite the complete XML file.
