It doesn't work. :(
I've opened a bug about it (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1313032), but it's been many months without a solution.
setxkbmap doesn't work. dconf for /org/gnome/desktop/input-sources/xkb-options doesn't work.
Has anyone found a workaround?
