I really like Unity and the launcher except for one thing. The icons are shown with a glass-like texture on top. This doesn't work well for some icon themes. I recently found a GTK theme that didn't have this (zukitwo-mac). I don't like this theme very much except for that one feature. I was wondering how I could use that feature with another theme (numix). Perhaps make a new theme using code from both? I don't really know anything about themes etc. Here are some screenshots since I didn't explain that very well.
How the launcher normally looks (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-TS3qKh_mnOVUdBY2ZwUlFMSnM/edit?usp=sharing)
How it looks with Zukitwo-Mac (https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-TS3qKh_mnOcU1fbnJSNG1hdmM&authuser=0)
I am on Ubuntu 14.04
Thanks in advance.

Hi - are you saying you want icons that look like numix circle icon theme but have the glass look like the standard ubuntu icon theme?

The colored back-lighting can be disabled from Unity Tweak Tool under icon backgrounds but the square around the icon can't. What you are asking is not impossible , but you would have to find out how it was done and be able to apply it to all themes. The tweak for the launcher is included somewhere in the packages installed for the Mac theme.
