How do I install Adobe Flash PLayer? First of all, why do I have to? On 12.04, if I wanted to see a video on Facebook or e-mail, all I had to do was click on it. Now, I have to install Adobre Flash Player. Well, I've tried three times. I download it, says open with I choose Arcive Manager (if I get a choice, sometimes I don't) so, I open it -- and get nothing or referred to some other venue such as Home, Desktop, where there's nothing relevant. This is to say noting of the parallel problem that I can't open pictures in e-mail, which keep making me opem them in Gedit, which gives me nothing but code. I'm sick of the whole bloody business!

Install the package flashplugin-installer from the Software Center or by using a package manager. flashplugin-installer will download and install the correct Adobe Flash Player package for you as it is installed.

In every ubuntu release, 12.04 and 14.04, if you want to see flash videos you have to install adobe flash plugin which is proprietary software. Do as Dennis N points.

In order to see images in your e-mail you cannot use gedit software since it is software to see text, you will have to select image viewer in order to see images. Click on the image file in mail and use open with "image viewer" ( perhaps you will have to look for image viewer).

There are always things to do after installing ubuntu (it is not windows), please see: http://howtoubuntu.org/things-to-do-after-installing-ubuntu-14-04-trusty-tahr

Adobe stopped developing its Flash Player for Linux a couple of years ago. So, the version offered by any web site link will be for a version that has not been improved for more than 2 years.

And now Google has changed things for those of us using Chromium. But there is this

As I remember, we had to install the Flash plugin installer in 12.04 as well in order to get Firefox playing videos.

Regards.
