Hello. I have a daily build of Utopic Lubuntu 64-bit for PCs.
(I am an experience user. I have Lubuntu on my older Lenovo PC.)
The install onto the X1 Carbon does not boot, and the boot-repair item does not work either.
So I re-installed, selected "something else" and made sure my efi boot petition was marked properly and my major partition was root.
That did not help.

In bios I have marked boot as both, with UEFI first and legacy second.

I was able to install Lubuntu Trusty. The short answer is that some of the daily builds work and some do not, and you should never assume that a particular daily build works.

We have a section on this forum called Ubuntu Development Version, which at the present period is Utopic Unicorn. You should have posted in that section. You may then have noticed this existing thread

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2239381

You may also notice that with the development branch some kernels work for some users but not for others.

Regards.
