Only the default file icons

Hello there I have sucessfully installed ubuntu 14.04 on my dual core Pentium , its all good dual monitors working , Internet printers . However I am only able to see the Hi res File icons and the standard orange icons in the Ubuntu Tweak utility. Other themes that I have installed from various places ( OMG ubuntu , upubuntu etc ) are there in usr/share/icons but they cannot be selected in the Unity tweak tool .
