Mouse jumps all over the place

One thing that is really annoying since I installed 14.04 is that my mouse jumps all over the place. I turned off the trackpad and that helped a little but it is still happening.
Dose anyone else have this problem? And is there a way to fix this? The mouse settings are very limited.

Yes, I have this problem with laptops especially.

Are you using a standard usb mouse? You could try an alternative mouse. That helped me in the past.

I am using a cordless I could try one with a cord and see if that helps.

Tried a mouse with a cord for a few days and it works great except I don't like the cord in the way. I would rather use the cordless but it just jumps all over the place.
It didn't do this until I installed Ubuntu. Another thing the touch pad is much more sensitive if I leave it on. and I have the option to tune off when typing and that doesn't seem to be working.
When I have to do a lot of typing I need to shut it off completely.
