I would like to install Ubuntu 14.04 64bit on my desktop PC. I'm running in to a graphical issue once the image boots. The desktop is black, but the launcher and top bar are displayed. They respond to mouse clicks but any program is a garbled mess. I have read on the net that this is not an uncommon problem for users with AMD HD7970 graphics cards. This post on AskUbuntu (http://askubuntu.com/questions/460591/ubuntu-14-04-screen-corruption-on-live-desktop-amd-7970) highlights the problem. I have tried the given answer without any luck. Has anyone had success booting the live image on a PC with a 7970 graphics?
In the past I have had other Linux Distro's install on this computer without issue. Distros that install the propriory drives as part of the install process appear to have less issues.
