For how long has it been down? Sometimes it takes a while; maybe the person responsible will get round to it shortly.
There's no other way to update a ppa that I know of. Of course, you could always ditch the ppa and get your nightly fix from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/.

Why don't you just use the stable version available from the Software Center?

Cause firefox trunk or firefox nightly is 64 bit.

So should work better with 64bit system? No?

1) You can run both nightly(from the ppa) and stable(from the default installed version on Ubuntu) Firefox on the same system.
Trunk's naming scheme makes this possible.

2)What makes you think you can't run a 64bit stable release?
I do.
