View Full Version : [ubuntu] irregular monitor setting makes icons disappear (icons arranged outside desktop)

I'm using a double display setup (notebook + external monitor). the external monitor is rotated to portait orientation and placed on the right side. This is very comfortable for reading documents or scrolling through sorce code of my projects. The desktop setting looks like this:

. _______
.* | |
.*__________| |
| | |
|* | |
|* | |
|___________|_______|

the problem (or bug) is, that icons are arranged (if created new or by using the auto-arrange functions) in the top left corner of the desktop. But unity does not take care of the real desktop setting (while the mouse arrow does - it can not pass the physical desktops end) and places the icons above the left screen (see * in graphic). Is there a way to fix or workaround this? The "hidden" icons are only accesible via filemanager or terminal, but can not be seen on the desktop.
