I just upgraded from 12.04 to Trusty Tahar.

I thought I would use a new wallpaper, so I went into "System Settings" and selected one named "Forever"

When I selected it, the files I had on my desktop were still accessible from my desktop.
This morning, after booting up and logging in, the files no longer showed on my desktop.

However, I went to my home folder and saw an icon showing the desktop folder. I clicked on that icon and the files were there.

I attached screenshots of desktop to make this clearer.

Additionally, I am not able to print.
I went into CUPS and tried printing. II was asked for a username and password, and after entering them, the files I was going to print are still being held.

I don't know if the system is letting me log in and then took away all my rights, or is treating me as a guest.
However, when I checked the user accounts, it shows me as an adminsitrator
