Hi there, I forgot to upgrade my distribution in May and now I seem to be stuck. I can't do a release upgrade, I can't do an update (the terminal says that the sources are not correct) and if I open the update manager in GUI it gives me an error and can't download anything.

Apart from re-installing everything, is there a way to upgrade to a supported distribution or change the sources?

thank you

It is called an End of Life Upgrade

abel3; Hi !

There is a means to release upgrade from EOL release,
In your case; a rather long and bumpy road:
12.10 -> 13.04 (EOL also) -> 13.10 (EOL too) ->14.04
See:https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EOLUpgrades
Old, but still apt.
Back up your data, and also give serious consideration to the faster-easier option to do a clean fresh install of release 14.04.

In the event of additional assistance required ->

ask

that is what we do

Thanks a lot, I think you convinced me to do a fresh install...

Good plan. Any alternative route could lead to a world of pain ... or be problematic at least. ;)

Bashing-om has suggested an upgrade path, but not sure if that would work due to the fact that the 12.10 repos are no longer active.

Good luck. And yes, any issues, just ask.
