Hello!

I am running LXLE since I have a non-PAE laptop. But, I have been getting messages to upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Trusty Tahr. Should I assume that upgrade will not work on my machine?

Trusty doesn't have a non-pae kernel so I'd stick with what you have. I think LXLE will keep providing kernel updates and other security updates throughout April 2017 but you may want to check with them to be certain.
