I used gparted and made 3 partitions and it also has a swap file, so tthat makes it 4 partitions .The swap file was made loading Mint 17. So I want to try a couple of other distro's in the two spare partitions. How do I make it so I can load the distro to its designated parttion. I'm using live cd's and I'm booting them to the screen then I'm installing to the different partitions. Mint is in sda1 and I want to put LXLE in sda2 and Precise puppy in sda3. This is the way I want to do it. Any sugestions will be appreciated

In Ubuntu and its flavours we choose the Something Else option at the Installation Type dialog. What options those other distros offer I cannot say.

LXLE is Ubuntu/Lubuntu based so the 'Something Else' option should be there. Puppy has a totally different installer but you will be able to select a partition, you just need to read everything carefully and if you don't understand, stop.
