Upgrade to 14.04 LTS stalled

As the title already suggests.. the Ubuntu upgrade from 12.04 to 14.04 stalled on my machine.

How to proceed from here?

my suggestion is and I hope you have already backed up any important data.
Do a clean fresh install of 14.04.1 LTS. -- there are usually many less problems that way.

Are you sure it froze? I performed a lot of upgrade tests in the past few weeks and even with a 12mbps connection the average time for completion has been nearly four hours.
