Hello and good day.

My computer froze after I clicked the "UPGRADE" to Ubuntu 14 button.

Am unable to boot back in to get my documents out.

Would this "RESCUE" mode on my Xubuntu installation disk help get my files back?

Thanks for your time.

gabmuks; Hello;

Sure, one can boot from the liveDVD, mount the partition of the install containing your /home directory ( from the GUI file manager, or from the terminal) and copy off what personal files you want.

But, it may be of little trouble to fix the install (??).
Can you boot in the install to grub and from the grub menu what results when you boot a "recovery' kernel entry ( advanced menu options) ?
