Ubuntu 12.04 System76 Meerkat-NetTop menu issues

I received a message that perhaps the System76 sub-area was only for System76 hardware installed Ubuntu, which is
what I am posting about. So, I will post here and see if I can get some help.
I have attached a odt file which expands and explains the problem and has a couple of screen captures to help explain.
So, please examine the attachment.

I am currently running 12.04 on the NetTop PC.
