Customise folders

Is there anyway of customizing folders so they are not all identical? When I (briefly) ran opensuse I could change folders so they were shaped like stars, footballs etc.

Folders icons can be changed in properties , but you would have to supply the images or navigate to another icon set. Changing sub-folders one by one is time consuming and I only tried it once back on 10.04.
