Hi,

Day before yesterday I ordered this product (http://www.ebay.in/itm/Zebronics-Vivo-Wireless-headphone-FM-radio-headset-for-Laptop-PC-TV-DVD-/121381934140?pt=IN_Mobile_Accessories&hash=item1c42ed543c) on Ebay.

This is the first time I am buying something online so I am feeling a bit anxious about the whole thing.

Now, some of friends are saying that I should avoid particularly Ebay coz there is a possibility of receiving counterfeit products.

Do you think that can happen ?

Also, usually how long does Ebay usually take to deliver the item(s) ? It can take upto 9 days ? This wait period is normal in online shopping ?

yes it can. check the seller's rating and you might be able to sleep at night at least. ;)

it's not e-bay that is delivering but the seller. so depends on the sellers terms and condition on shipping. haven0t done it on ebay but on some other sites like dealextreeme where you have free-shipping available and it could take a long time. in my case it was over a month. but express shipping (to be payed for) would take much less. a couple of days at the most.

9 days is nothing. depending on destination but for example from my experience (I sell & ship spare parts all over the world) to get it to the other side of the world with normal airfreight it would take us 6-8 days to airport, then customs and delivery to address usually all in all it takes about 14 days. unless it's some really exotic location (e.g. a very remote island...).

DHL (as well as other courier shipments) mostly does it in a couple of days at a much larger price.

So it all depends where the seller is and where the buyer is as well as how well the seller is stocked (own stock or they get stock from outside)

The ratings seems to be very nice. So I guess I will receive a genuine product.

The reason I was saying that 9 days is bit on the higher is because the origin of this product is India. So I was just wondering that if they are flying their cargo from one city of India to another how long can that take ? But I guess there is nothing we can do about it. Thanks.

yeah quite a few dodgy things on ebay - but some genuinely good quality things there too - you have to do a little rummaging to find good quality, and make use of all the features. also ebay staff are quite proactive about stepping in when things go wrong.

i think your headphones will be OK, because i don't personally believe headphones - at least nowadays - alter that much in quality. but there'll always be some people who disagree with that kind of statement

I dont' mind but don't ever say that to people who use Sennheiser (http://en-us.sennheiser.com/headphones).

as mentioned how long it takes to get an item depends on several things. How fast the seller getit in the system. which carrier is used. The route the carrier uses.
I have had items delivered direct from china faster than an item only going cross country. I live in western AZ i bought an item from a seller in Tampa Fl. That item went to the extreme east side of Fl then back across country to LA then to las vegas nv then back to me. It was 4 days before the seller even got it out for shipping. Others i have had go cross country in 3 days.

yea there are some counterfeit items on there, fake cat5e cable is fairly common to be fake, typically made of untwisted stranded tin wire, real cat5e cable is twisted and usually made of coper wire, the twisted cable make it able to do gigabit speed instead of fast speed, gigabit is 10 times faster than fast

normally pretty save buying on ebay, i have heard some horror stories from selling and getting ripped off (item never arrive claim when tracking says it did) and the 12.5% fee (10% ebay + 2.5% paypal) for selling sucks then there is shipping cost

I guess it won't take too long. The tracking log says it has reached my city. If everything goes well I am planning to do a lot of online shopping. I don't know the market situation of other countries but in India I always find shops charging Rs 150-200 more than the online sites. Flipkart is selling products like crazy.

I've only had one bad ebay/online shopping experience, and it was mostly due to my neglect/being dumb about it.

I tried to buy a Nintendo DS for my little cousin, and I bought it on ebay. I was careless and didn't really look into how reliable the seller was/how long he claimed it would take to ship.

Basically, I never received the product, and too many days had gone by for ebay to step in. I threw away like $125, but oh well you learn form your mistakes.

I was looking for an Ethernet spike protector but unfortunately nobody makes them in my country.

So I went to ebay.com instead of ebay.in and found a number of brands selling them but none has COD (cash on delivery facility) so didn't buy it.

I was planning to buy this one (http://www.ebay.com/itm/RadioShack-Network-Surge-Protector-10-100-Base-T-LAN-RJ-45-Modular-Jacks-61-2144-/121296292954?pt=US_Surge_Protectors_Power_Strips&hash=item1c3dd28c5a#payCntId).
