I live in the boonies in California. Doesn't help me much. Hope they don't suck as much as most Internet providers.

I have CenturyLink. It's DSL. It's been better than Comcast that I used to have because it doesn't have "slow periods" which I'm told is because with cable you share the connection with a lot of users. That means when they all get on after work the speed slows to a crawl and stays slow for about 3-4 hours...many times, daily. I hated that because of it.

I don't have much experience other than this so I dont know if there's a better ISP out there. I'd have to shop around and see.

That 1G speed sounds nice. I wonder how much more it would cost me. Hopefully not too much more.

No doubt in time more and more ISPs will offer that speed so you'd probably be able to get it eventually.

Same here. My http speed is pretty slow but my ISP supports "local peering" so if I am downloading something which is cached or fellow users are downloading I get speeds up to 10MB/s. AFAIK it is not possible to implement local peering in DSL only cable broadband providers can do that if they wish to.

This is what I get on a good day, with ADSL2. Upgrading to something faster, even VDSL, isn't an option at the moment, partly due to limitations of the gear in the roadside cabinet (about 300m away).
