Their server might be down. How often did you try and over what time period? I just went to the Kubuntu forum site and accessed it and could get to the Login, Register and Help pages.

I would check the URL, and you may see some 'funny stuff' at the end. Backspace over that, hit enter, and it sometimes works for me.

Try the command below from a terminal, replace firefox with your other browser. Doubt if it will change anything but you might get some output in the terminal after closing the browser which would give some hint as to what the problem is.

firefox https://www.kubuntuforums.net/content.php (https://www.kubuntuforums.net/content.php)

I see none of us have asked the obvious, this is the only site which you cannot access? Are you coming here using the same browser on the same machine?

I get the exact same error, for several hours now. It all started with some strange error saying that I broke some rule, which I've never seen before. After that I got the above error.

I just tried it and it works here. Have tried a different IP?

Eh... Well, it seems to work for me.

ISP's DNS servers, maybe? California is a surprise, but I suspect one of you is in Germany taking a clue from one of the tabs on FF.

I also wonder if I somehow got banned. It would have to be by a mistake. I never abuse anything or anyone on their forum. I tried to find an admin to ask, but so far can't find any contact info.

You could try the mailing list ... if you can connect to this URL:

https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-users

That, or try the IRC channel #kubuntu

Thanks. I already tried that. The folks at IRC are saying the same thing as here.
Also I just sent an email to "support@kubuntuforums.net". Hopefully I'll here something.

Edit:Here is the IP address that comes up: 184.168.221.16
If I go there directly, it shows "This website is temporarily unavailable, please try again later."

I found the issue and here is the link:
https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthread.php?65633-403-Forbidden

After you get that 403 error, it resets itself in 24 hours. Snowhog fixed in several months ago, but its now back.

Its truly sinful, but I was able to get through using my Windows OS! Both Xubuntu & Kubuntu OS failed.

Edit: The original link is here:
https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthread.php?65793-403-Forbidden-another

Whatever 'ZB block' is.That's the culprit.

The above is what I got just before the "Error 503" page, and yes you have to wait 24 hours for reset, unless you can contact System Admin.

On KFN (https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthread.php?66052-Error-503-Service-Temporarily-Unavailable‏&p=355590&viewfull=1#post355590), this was recently posted:

If you trigger too many 403 errors, zbblock will lock you out for a time period (default being 24 hours, IIRC)...during that time you'll only get 503.

Notice that every connection attempt during the lock out will reset the time period (extending the lock out another 24 hours)

If you make no connection attempts in 24+ hours, you'll be allowed back in (an admin can also clear the block for you)
