I’m attempting to install 14.04.01 on a new system:
Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A-DS3P
Memory: 8192 MB DDR3
Processor: AMD FX 6350 6 Core Processor x6
BIOS Ver. F1
Crucial Solid State Drive: 120 Gig
Every time I try to install it gets to the screen that says “Any questions” and just sits there with the never ending circle going round and round. All the buttons on the screen are responsive but no means to move forward. No indication whether or not installation is still under way (no activity lights on HHD OR DVD. Also I believe failed attempts at installation have left partitions and otherwise non-optimized data fragments on the solid state drive (I also tried to install xp with no success (gets to 37% and goes to blue screen) with error message (sorry, didn’t write it down). I would re-format the drive and start over but Ubuntu say it will erase everything on disk during full installanyway, but I’m not so sure. Can anyone tell me how to reformat the drive and how to get the installation to finish. Oh, also, during installation it asks to go online. The wireless network is shown as available but won’t hookup. The Ethernet cable is plugged in but it won’t connect there either. I have a driver cd for the Mobo but I believe I need to get an OS installed first.
I'm not very Ubunto Savvy. Have stuck with windows for cad program purposes but REALLY want to get away from it if possible.
Any help would be appreciated.
