Ubuntu Studio but I just altered an existing wallpaper from the web. Its already XFCE. Dark and has a dock, that I like more than Cairo.
So unlike my old normal Unity Ubuntu, I just don't need to mod much.

All I did was thicken the panel size and increase sizes of Icons and text, for easier viewing on my 37 inch TV from a distance.
I also kept the resoulution at 1360 x 768 to avoid wasting PC processing power on a larger resolution.

What the hell happened to this screenshot thread? Years ago when I used to frequent this sub-forum, by the middle of the month, there would already be dozens of pages for the monthly screenshot thread to sift through. We're entering the fourth week of August in 2014 and there are three pages. What gives? This is a question that I am not asking rhetorically. I am sincerely curious as to have an explanation for why this thread is so scarce with screenshots.

What the hell happened to this screenshot thread? Some regular contributors who posted numerous shots in the span of the month have simply moved on . There has been a change since Gnome 3 as well. Ubuntu, Elementary,Mint and Zorin all have their own desktop environments and comumities .

Customized Gnome 2 pictures made up a large part of what was posted when I joined the forums and G2 was the mainstay of many distributions which is no longer the case. Not. an explanation , but Gnome 3 was a big factor in my opinion because that is when I saw a decline as a participant. Customization Projects like Compiz. Emerald, Gdesklets , and Screenlets don't have near the support they used to and keeping them to working in Gnome 3 has been a challenge.

It is a sign of the times I am afraid. I am a member of quite a few large forums, not all Linux based, and it is the same all over, forums are getting quieter. It's because of Facebook and Twitter, as far as I can tell.

Well, hi everybody.

My two candidates are as follows:-

Wallpaper obtained through Google search, about 6 months ago (before I moved to Linux). Was going to delete it, then realised the colour was a good match for Unity. Ubuntu 'Unity' theme title, my own work on PhotoScape v 3.6.5 running in Wine 1.72 (this combination actually has the coveted platinum star, and consequently runs perfectly.....just slower than in *******), with .png icons sourced via Google image search. Main icons and theme, Win 7; courtesy of Unity Tweak Tool. Widget; 'My-Weather-Indicator' ( via Software Centre, with help from Linuxtweaks.com.)

PSensor installed (with assistance from http://www.webupd8.org/2014/06/psensor-updated-with-option-to-display.html)

PhotoScape and ImgBurn both from Win XP days. PhotoScape is about the ONLY Windows graphics-editing program I can't find a good replacement for!

PLEASE don't ask about CAV..!

Wallpaper sourced online, but I forget where I got this one. Zorin theme name, again my own work on PhotoScape, and Zorin .png again sourced via Google. Win 7 style AWN panel taskbar at top; 'Docky' dock at bottom of screen. Widget (again) 'My-Weather-Indicator'; works perfectly here, also.

I must agree with hg-knight. I'm normally more of a 'gadget & widget' type, as you can tell from my desktops, BUT; as an 'arty' individual, and one who has spent years playing around in graphic design, I have to say.....THAT is spectacular.

It goes to show two things. One, that modern home computers are now more capable of giving the 'professionals' a run for their money, in terms of capabilities. And two, that the human mind is ever-fertile; you think you've seen everything.....and somebody, somewhere, completely stuns you with regard to what can be imagined..!
