Good morning,
I have a lenovo U410. After lots of troubles, I upgraded to ubuntu 14. I've always had problems and never was able to install ubuntu properly. By removing nvidia drivers, I could at least have a terminal, but that's it.
Now, after installing ubuntu 14, I have the login screen and then the wallpaper loads correctly, but the left menu is never loaded and I can't even open the terminal with the keyboard shortcut.
I think it may still be drivers' fault. Can anybody help me ?

Looks like Unity is broken.. get to tty (CTRL + SHIFT+F2). log in with your user-id / pass..
run: "startx"

ok, I got to tty and could launch startx.
By doing so, when the graphic interface starts again, the left bar still does not open, but with CTRL-ALT-T the terminal opens and I can also open the browser and do everything, but still I would like to get the whole interface.
Any advises ?

oh, and of course I can thus use the apt-get command to install stuff.

I installed the lubuntu graphical interface and everything is working. I'm happy with it for now (at least I can use the computer)
