MX/MX2/G2 TV Box Ubuntu installation

I have an Android TV Box with a Cortex-A9, dual core, 1GB rom, 8GB ram also called MX TV box or MX2.
I'm trying to install Ubuntu, but to install any operating system has to be done through the update on recovery mode, the OS has to be on a zip file, in order for the box to install it.
Any one that has done this installation, or instructions how to built this zip file for installation????

Attempting an ARM ports isn't for newbies.

What you want to achieve, if possible, isn't done by flashing a new 'firmware' like you would do with an Android ROM. Some processors are easy than others to boot from and use an alternative image.
Some Rockchip ones can run Picuntu. Have a read.
