Capital letters do strange things in various contexts

Often, when writing in Gmail (for example), if I use a capital letter, the letter is drawn, but then the cursor moves *behind* the letter. So that if I write something like ICE, I will end up with CEI. In other places, like single fields, it closes the context. For example, in naming diagrams in MySQL Workbench, I right click > Rename, and the second I type a capital letter, the textbox closes.

These kinds of issues happen all over the place with general consistency.

Any thougths/help?
