Hi,

A few years ago I tried dual boot Ubuntu on a Windows XP m/c. It worked OK, but in the end I unloaded it and stuck with Windows..

Now I would like to try it again. But now I have Windows 7 and I would like to install it on a separate hard disc, but with the option to dual boot.

Is that easy? The dual boot installation instructions I have read assume it's going to go alongside Windows on the same disc (but partitioned).

P.S. If I go ahead it will be with the latest version of Ubuntu, not the old 9.10 version!!!

Welcome back to the Ubuntu Forums :-)

If you have used Ubuntu before it should be easy. And safer, if you remove the drive with Windows. (It is not necessary to remove Windows, but safer.) But before removing it you should check if Windows is installed with BIOS or UEFI.

As a starter, see these links

Try Ubuntu (Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, ...) before installing it (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2230389)
