Hi, everybody.

I've tried Ubuntu 14.04 and 2 versions of Linux Mint 17 (Mate and Cynammon))

This is my problem. I don't know how to get the fonts smooth. I googles and tried different solutions (ubuntu tweak, unity tweak tool, system preferences, KDE etc), but I don't seem to get what I want: Having clear and readable fonts on ubuntu 14.04 same as I had them on another computer running 12.04 Lts.

I don't know what else to try. I googled and all the solutions (not many) I've tried hardly make any difference. I'm thinking about trying Opensuse.

Anyone running Ubuntu 14.=4 with smooth fonts?

Thank you very much.

I've just noticed that the problem with fonts happens when using the hdmi connection. If I switch to VGA font hinting works fine and fonts are not blurry.

Any ideas to solve it?

Edit: it happens the same if I boot on Windows 7 (dual boot). I've tried two different monitors.

Edit2: The problem is related to the monitor. I tried with two Tv's used as monitors (not by famous manufacturers). Then I decided to try hdmi output on two other Tv's (LG and Samung) and the HDMI output works fine. Fonts are not blurry anymore. I don't know why.
