I am using 64-bit 12.04. The desktop background images are identical in all four workspaces. Is it possible for each workspace to have its own background image?

Hi Xinghao_Chen.

I believe you can. Here (http://askubuntu.com/questions/75998/is-it-possible-to-have-a-different-background-for-each-workspace)'s how to do it depending on your current version.

Regards.

Thanks for the feedback. It seems to me that the Configuration Editor method is simplier; but I don't understand the instructions (such as add plugs, add a comma ...).

I thought that there maybe a simple way - bring up a workspace, click on the desktop and change the background picture; then repeate the same with a different workspace.

Here's another tutorial (http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2014/04/ubuntu-14-04-set-different-wallpaper-for-each-workspace/). Much simpler and with only one way to do it.

Let us know if that works for you.
Regards.

I tried to install Configuration Editor from the software store. But it reads to require the installation of untrusted package. Sounds risky to me.

The tutorial is for 14.04. Mine is 12.04 and the System Settings -> Apperance -> Behavior doesn't have an entry for Enable Workspaces.
