Hi, I have a Kubuntu dapper 64 machine, and dosbox installed, but it feels terribly slow!
When I try to run doom2, it goes about 1 fps, or something like that.

My video card is correctly configured, and my config is more than enough to run about 100 parallel doom2s.
Athlon 64 3500+ with 1 GB RAM and ATI 9600XT.

Yes, I have DRI working.
I'm trying to make doomsday or doom legacy work, but neither of them is working for me, I just would like to have another option.

Since I use dosbox to another dos applications, It wouldn't be much of a problem to make it room the dooms also.

Have you tried increasing the cycles in the dosbox.conf file?

If this doesn't help then try speeding up the game a little more by pressing CTRL+F12.

If this post doesn't help you there are also some dosbox forums with some people who use Ubuntu who may be able to help.

The forum is at: http://vogons.zetafleet.com/index.php?c=7

15000 cycles and frameskip 2 runs my games just fine. (One Must Fall 2097, Acid Tetris, Descent 2, Tyrian 2000)

Latest version of dosbox, from their page, work much faster than the one in the repos.

So far I am unable to get my games to work in Wine, Cedega, and dosbox. Does anyone have a guide for installing dos games in dosbox? I am a newbie to dos games and doxbox. I would like to get Doom for dosbox, but I don't know which one to get. How many Doom games are there that run in dos. Someone told me I need wad files. I don't know what they are or what to do with them, and what other files I need. That is why I am asking for a guide. Thanks.

I usually do dosbox <distination>/<name>.exe works 99% of the games I have tried.

Dosbox is an emulated dos, but dosemu is a dos application compatible layer like Wine, so it will run your Dos apps more quickly.

Heh, with todays machines it doesn't matter ;)
