Hi all,

I am trying to figure out why I cannot log into my Lubuntu box. I am the admin user (I can sudo, etc.) but when I try to login, I get the LXDE background image and it seems to hang there. Other users can login without issue, and I can login via a non-gui interface (e.g. via ssh or local console), so most of the stuff I do can still be done, but I can't figure out why the gui login doesn't work. I've also tried installing another environment, e.g. XFCE and the same things happens there, I get past the login screen, but it then seems to hang.

I had this problem a while ago, and ended up having to create new admin user, copy all my files and settings over to that user, then delete the old admin user. It has now happened again, and I need to find out why.

If it is of any help, the admin user account is one that we log into, start some gui programs, then switch out (so other users can login, but the gui apps stay running)
