Hi. I want to know how to get a global menu in xubuntu 14. I have tryed a few plugins but no one worked for me. Thanx.

Unfortunately I believe all the plugins and tweaks that had been created are dead and outdated. The plugins worked with older versions of XFCE but due to updates and code changes they no longer work.

XFCE Appmenu Plugin (https://launchpad.net/~the-warl0ck-1989/+archive/xfce-appmenu-plugin/)

Perhaps someone will find the urge to revive the plugins and update them. Until then you might be out of luck!

Hope that helps!

Following a decision, voted on 2014-02-13 (http://ubottu.com/meetingology/logs/xubuntu-devel/2014/xubuntu-devel.2014-02-13-19.01.log.html#l-216), the Xubuntu Development Team decided to drop the old application menu replacing it by Whisker Menu.

You you wish to have the old application menu instead of whisker menu, all you have to do is to right click on the panel and navigate to Panel > Panel Preferences > Items. Once there, select Whisker Menu and press the red 'X' on the right to remove it.
Then press '+' on the right for new item, select Applications Menu and finally press 'Add'. Use the up and down arrows to position it where you want.

OP is asking about global menu (as in Ubuntu where the menu of open applications show up at the top of the screen rather than the application window), not the old application menu. :) I personally am happy that in 14.04 there is finally an option to disable it. :) It is a nice optional feature if you have a small screen though.

As for xfce, IMO the whisker menu is a lot better than the old application menu.

My bad.
I completely misread OP's post.
