If I begin installing 14.04 and it cannot get an an automatic DHCP connection, will this cause problems? I could not get an autoconnect whilst running the live dvd. Or is there some way to set up a static IP prior to install?

If this is on a laptop with only a wireless connection it may simply be that the wireless chip is not working in the live system.

You can still go ahead and install without a connection but you won't be able to add the restricted packages or updates until you have finished installing and can enable the wireless. If you can attach by cable you should be able to get a connection and install with updates, etc etc.

Both wired and wireless worked with the live cd, but I had to manually set a static IP address, etc. in order to access the internet. Nevertheless, good to hear that I can add the other packages after installation. Thanks!
